37.5Position Focus:The Assistant/Associate Director for Strategic Communication is responsible for serving as the primary communications contact for multiple programs while being a secondary contact for others. Duties include but are not limited to developing social and web-based content including graphic design, video, and written content. The position will also align closely with the branding and marketing efforts of the department. The Assistant/Associate Director for Strategic Communications is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Yale University, the Ivy League, and NCAA.The position will focus on developing written and creative content for both digital and print platforms promoting the athletic programs, student-athletes, and coaches to effectively represent the athletic, academic, and community service accomplishments of these entities to external and internal constituencies. Disseminates accurate and timely information to media according to established publication standards. Serves as a liaison to the print and broadcast media locally, regionally, and nationally. Works closely with other departments (creative, marketing, video production, etc.) in developing an overall content management strategy for each sports program.Essential Duties:Develops and manages forward-looking strategic communications with video and social media to enhance Yale's reputation and communicate Yale's messages.Produces multimedia content. Identify topics with compelling visual and audio elements to create stories that exploit those qualities, using video, podcasts, infographics, slideshows, and other media as appropriate.Works with communications colleagues throughout the school and university to highlight the work of researchers, create a high-profile presence, and reach new audiences.Builds relationships with faculty, administrators, departments, and students and maintains contact with communications professionals and monitors trending news topics.Conceptualizes and writes creative posts across all social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other accounts.Participates in regular editorial/content meetings. Propose story ideas to senior leadership.Regularly attends scientific talks on diverse topics to stay up-to-date on research trends at Yale and beyond.Required Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree and minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in science writing, social media, digital journalism (e.g., video, audio blogging, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.Required Skill/Ability 1:

Knowledge of journalistic principles, practices, and techniques of disseminating information to the public through the media and other communication platforms.Required Skill/Ability 2:

Knowledge of grammar, composition, and AP style along with strong written and oral communication skills.Required Skill/Ability 3:

Strong organizational, management, and leadership skills along with the ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.Required Skill/Ability 4:

The ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, and student-athletes.Required Skill/Ability 5:

Advanced computer skills, particularly in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and advanced knowledge and understanding of various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:Demonstrated experience working with basketball or football as the primary or secondary sport contact. Two years of proven experience in athletics communications and social/digital media in an NCAA athletics department and/or professional sports organization.Drug Screen:
