The Director of International Sales will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of MicroAire’s international sales strategy, priorities, and team to drive growth and help the company achieve its revenue and profit targets. This role involves leading and managing MicroAire’s international sales team, identifying growth opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with key distributors, and supporting the company’s operational efforts. It will require extensive travel to MicroAire’s key international markets, especially Western Europe and Asia, and will also involve occasional travel to company headquarters in Charlottesville, Virginia.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic Planning
Establish departmental long-term strategy and priorities that align with MicroAire’s strategic goals
Stay informed about market trends, distributor needs, and competitive landscape to identify top-priority growth opportunities and areas for improvement
Financial Delivery
Develop and maintain sales budgets and forecasts to properly manage expectations
Drive revenue and profit growth across all regions and business segments
Manage product pricing strategy and execution
Distributor Relationship Management
Enhance customer and international distributor satisfaction by ensuring high-quality service and support
Implement distributor feedback mechanisms to identify product and service opportunities
Identify potential distribution partners and develop strong relationships with existing distributors
Lead high-level negotiations and contract management for key distributors
Team Building & Leadership
Lead and manage the international sales team, setting performance targets and ensuring the team meets or exceeds sales goals
Recruit, train, and mentor team members, fostering a high-performance culture and professional growth
Implement talent management practices to attract, develop, and retain top talent
Promote collaboration and the sharing of best practices across regions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with other departments, including Marketing, Innovation, Finance, Supply Chain, and Logistics to ensure alignment and support for sales and marketing initiatives
Facilitate flow of market intelligence to support product development and operational improvements
Report on market conditions and strategic initiatives to cross-functional partners and company leadership
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required; MBA, Master’s, or PhD preferred
Industry Experience:
Previous experience in the medical/healthcare industry required; At least 5 years in medical device management role preferred
Sales Experience:
Previous sales leadership, including responsibility for developing sales strategies and achieving revenue targets, required; Previous experience managing 3rd party distributors preferred
Leadership Experience:
At least 5 years experience managing direct reports required; Previous experience building or reshaping a team/department preferred
International Experience:
Previous experience managing teams and customers across multiple regions and cultures required

Able to adapt to changing market conditions and business priorities
AUTHORITY LEVELSupervision:
Supervises the International Sales department
Confidentiality:
Has broad base access to company plans and strategies; Also has access to many trade secrets knowledge of new products and will be required to maintain confidentiality
Decision Making:
Decision-making at this level has a significant impact on company sales

TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTSSee individual training matrix in the MicroAire Training Management System.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSMinimal physical demands. Requires ability to travel and stand for extended periods of time.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTFollows protective equipment procedures for each department. Adheres to medical facility precautions during cadaver labs and surgical procedures. Candidates for this position must be willing to comply with all vaccination requirements as mandated by applicable hospital policies and local regulations in the U.S., Europe and Asia. This may include vaccinations for diseases such as hepatitis B, influenza, and COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required prior to employment or placement in a healthcare role.
WORK ENVIRONMENTFrequent travel up to 50% to Europe, Asia, and Central/South America required.
