Corporate Counsel

PlayOn is looking for a Corporate Counsel that will report to the Deputy General Counsel and work closely with the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) in managing legal affairs for PlayOn. Areas of focus could include a wide range of complex commercial transactions, product compliance, data privacy, consumer protection, intellectual property, corporate governance, litigation, and legal operations. The right individual for this role will be a leader experienced in partnering with senior business leaders, product and technology leads, and business development leads that is able to effectively manage an array of legal matters and provide practical advice in a fast-paced and growing technology company.THE OUTCOMES WE EXPECT.Data Privacy and Product:
Work closely with product, advertising and marketing technology, customer support and privacy experts to provide legal counsel on a wide range of data privacy and technology/product matters. Identify and mitigate legal risks related to data privacy and consumer protection, both in contracts and operationally.Contract Drafting, Analysis and Negotiation:
Draft, analyze, and negotiate a diverse array of contracts, ranging from technology vendor agreements to licensing agreements to advertising and sponsorship agreements. Assist in analyzing M&A and investment transactions.Compliance and Governance:
Provide legal counsel and support on corporate governance matters, ensuring adherence to pertinent laws and regulations while fostering a culture of compliance within the organization.Litigation Management:
Assist in the oversight and management of litigation and other legal disputes.Intellectual Property Management:
Assist in the strategic management of the company's intellectual property portfolio.Legal Operations and Workflow:
Assist in further developing legal operations and contract management processes and systems. Develop standard contracts, templates, forms and general terms and conditions of any kind to streamline, standardize and simplify systems/procedures/documents and ways of working. Partner with clients to develop and implement best practices.THE TALENTS YOU BRING.3-5+ years of general corporate legal experience gained at both law firms and in-house.A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a reputable accredited U.S. law school.License in good standing with one or more state bars (Georgia preferred).Legal expertise in areas relevant to a fast-paced and growing consumer-facing technology company, including complex commercial transactions, data privacy, and digital product compliance.Must possess excellent strategic, organizational, project management and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Experience partnering with product/tech teams and the ability to effectively communicate complex legal and business concepts concisely to non-legal stakeholders.
