Overview

The Financial Institution (FI) Credit Officer will be responsible for assisting in managing Deutsche Bank’s counterparty credit risk to Americas based FIs. You will have a dedicated portfolio, covering a broad range of FI types, and will be responsible for approving transactions, as well as reviewing and monitoring counterparties on an ongoing basis. FI Credit Risk Management provides credit risk management and oversight across Deutsche Bank’s business activities with North American FIs. In particular, Credit Officers are responsible for handling trade/transaction approvals, setting and monitoring counterparty credit limits, negotiating credit terms in various trading agreements, and interfacing with senior management and business personnel on risk issues.

What You’ll Do

Undertake initial credit due diligence for new clients to fully understand their credit profile and intended business activity. Following this assessment, you will efficiently and promptly approve or recommend appropriate credit limits and documentation terms

Prepare credit reports and supporting materials in accordance with Bank policies and procedures. Interact with Relationship Managers and marketers to secure appropriate documentation to facilitate proposed transactions

Assess the credit quality of the sectors in question. Help apprise management of significant events within the industries which have a major negative impact on credit quality

Play a key role in the legal documentation process to ensure that appropriate credit covenants/ATEs are included in legal agreements allowing Deutsche Bank to take action to close out portfolios and terminate trades in the event of a default or any credit deterioration (e.g., a sharp deterioration in performance)

Participate and contribute to discussions on portfolio strategies, limit setting, credit policy, and other related topics

Review day-to-day transaction approvals received from sales teams across the Bank, and analyze bespoke structured transactions and assist in managing credit/risk associated with lending, counterparty trading, foreign exchange, derivatives, capital market products, and structured finance

How You’ll Lead

Work with junior staff to provide guidance on risk framework and process surrounding due diligence deliverables

Skills You’ll Need

Degree level education or equivalent

Moderate industry experience in managing FI credit risk. The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing credit risk for insurance companies and NBFIs (including Business Development Companies, mortgage originators/servicers, and consumer finance companies). Some experience with Banks, Broker-dealers, GSEs, and Clearinghouses/Exchanges is also a plus

Product knowledge should cover all major derivative instruments, securities financing, as well as more traditional lending products, including financing engagements involving investment banking mandates and letters of credit

Understanding of master trading documentation, particularly International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) agreements, Global Master Repo Agreements (GMRA), Master Securities Lending Agreement (MSLA). This should include a sound understanding and knowledge of the principal risk mitigating clauses employed across the industry

A confident decision maker who can competently explain the reasoning which supports credit decisions

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $125,000 to $203,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location, and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
