Position SummaryManages the day-to-day operations of the human resource office of the company, as well as the administration of the human resources policies, procedures, and programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
Administer training to employees (i.e. Back to School HR Policies, Supervisor Training, etc.).
Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
Keep records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
Advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues and proactive responses.
Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
Administer performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
Administer benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
Investigate accidents and prepare reports for insurance carrier.
Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
Other Duties
Comply with ECF’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
Observe regular, on-site work hours.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation/Licenses/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field is required.
Experience:
Five years in Human Resources with knowledge and a deep understanding of Labor Law and employment equity regulations.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
Knowledge of state and federal requirements related to employment.
Knowledge of HR practices, functions, and best practices.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while being flexible as needs change.
Remarkable organizational and conflict management skills.
Requirements
Driving is an essential function of the position. Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record.
Pass a DOJ background investigation.
Provide evidence of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter.
Work EnvironmentWork site is located in a building shared with a school for students (grades K–12) who have varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities. Employee may encounter students who are in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological distress, or behaving in an aggressive manner. Environment may include frequent interruptions, loud noise, odors, varying indoor temperature, and drafts.
