These services will align with the firm's core business principles while supporting its objectives. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to shape the law firm of the future. The director will oversee all aspects of the human resources function, including operational areas such as benefits and HR systems.This position reports directly to the Chief People and Development Officer and can be located in any of our US offices. The position requires a commitment to work outside of regular business hours.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, leaves of absences, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance, productivity, recognition, retention and engagement.Provide leadership and overall development of HR team and direct reports.Oversee the HRIS team and system to ensure accurate and efficient processing of employee data, including system upgrades, data integrity, and user training.Develop and implement short-term and long-term HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy with a focus on continued improvement.Develop and administer programs, policies, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the firm.Develop and implement department budget.Advise on complex employee relations issues; ensuring thorough and objective investigations, involvement of legal counsel and recommendation of disciplinary action, performance improvement plans, and terminations.Continually assess the competitiveness of all compensation and benefit programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance and to provide programs that enhance the short and long-range health and welfare of all employees.Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, legal industry, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required; degree in Human Resource Management preferred.Minimum of 10 years of related and progressively more responsible and broad-based Human Resources experience with a minimum of five years of leadership and management experience in a large, complex organization.Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of HR, including technology applications, HR regulations & compliance.Experience with health benefits, retirement benefits and total rewards programs.Knowledge of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Plans.Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), proficiency in Workday is strongly preferred.Demonstrated skills in employee relations with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and use sound judgment in decision making; demonstrated ability to partner and influence at all levels in the business and to be viewed as a credible, valuable source of information and integral part of management team.Strong business acumen, superior problem-solving and relationship building skills.Adaptable and flexible leadership style.Excellent communication abilities, both written and oral.Strong organization and time management/project management skills necessary to prioritize multiple assignments and to meet set deadlines; ability to react quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment.Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with all levels of management, lawyers and employees.Integrity and good judgment when handling confidential information.Proficient in Microsoft Office.
