to determine if you qualify.The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Administrative Services is recruiting for an Accounting Technician 1 located in Juneau!What you will be doing:This position serves the Department of Fish and Game which includes eight divisions: Commissioner’s Office, Boards, Wildlife Conservation, Subsistence, Commercial Fisheries, Habitat, Sport Fish, and Administrative Services.

The position is responsible for processing documents for accounts payable, travel, and other assigned accounting tasks under the lead of the Accounting Technician 3 (11-0237). The primary tasks assigned to this position includes auditing and approving IRIS TRQS and TAPO transactions as well as travel authorization backup documentation.

Who we are looking for:Desired knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with IRIS (the statewide accounting system) or other accounting programs.Ability to research, interpret, apply, and explain laws, rules, and regulations.Ability to identify discrepancies, completeness, or inaccuracies in data and make corrections.Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.Strong work ethic and experience performing detail-oriented assignments independently or with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions:Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
