Department Summary

The Special Events Office within UNT's Office of the President operates under the overarching goals of presenting the University's mission effectively to internal and external constituents and is responsible for coordinating all presidential events in accordance with the President's vision.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for planning and directing the strategic and operational activities of special events hosted or supported by the President's Office.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years' of closely related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience in a higher education environment.

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Skill in using computer applications such as spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.

Skill in public speaking and delivering presentations.

Knowledge of managing an expense budget in a university setting.

Knowledge of accounting and budgetary principles.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree.

Experience supervising and motivating a team.

Experience planning events in a university setting.

Job Duties:

Schedules large- and small-scale special events in coordination with the President.

Manages execution of events, coordinating operational and day-of support.

Enhances guest experience by providing high-level hospitality and attention to detail.

Coordinates various communications from the President's Office.

Consults with internal and external affiliates for presidential and other university events.

Serves on various university committees and represents the professionalism of the President's Office.

Manages events budgets as department ID holder.

Work Schedule:

M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; additional time outside of office hours as event schedule requires.
