Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Design Engineer III to join our outstanding team in Hillsboro, OR, USA. As a System Design Engineer III, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of our DualBeam SEM/FIB systems. You will have the opportunity to join a team of accomplished scientists and engineers, making meaningful contributions to the success of our sophisticated technologies!
Responsibilities:
Conduct feasibility studies, including modeling and simulation, to guide system architecture design
Develop high-level system and sub-system design and architecture requirements
Collaborate with diverse teams to develop and validate new or improved subsystem and component functionality.
Conduct practical integration, validation, verification, and resolution of prototype systems and workflows
Characterize and document system performance using statistical analysis, design of experiment (DOE), and statistical process control (SPC)
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in Physics, Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering, or a doctorate degree in the same fields
Strong analytical skills and experience in hands-on characterization using statistical methods
Demonstrated competency in areas such as: nanotechnology, system and process characterization, high voltage, electronics, electron microscopes, ion beam systems, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor capital equipment and processes, automation, Python, metrology, motion and mechatronics, vibration and acoustics, vacuum systems, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and design for six sigma (DfSS)
