The research will employ animal models, human tissues, and in vitro systems to explore the molecular regulation of innate immune receptors in both health and disease, particularly inflammatory bowel diseases. The laboratory routinely generates and relies on multi-omic data (transcriptomics, proteomics, meta-transcriptomics, meta-proteomics, and metabolomics). Germ-free and gnotobiotic animal models will be utilized to examine host-bacterial interactions in intestinal homeostasis, inflammation, and cancer. Additionally, the laboratory is interested in studying the impact of diet and dietary modifications on inflammatory bowel disease and related cancers. Therefore, experience in interpreting clinical data and analyzing omic results is essential.CORE FUNCTIONSOversees research employees, students, and other relevant staff.Authors scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent applications.Assists in the development of training materials for research staff.Plans experiments and records and analyzes findings.Prepares research proposals and funding applications.Ensures that all activities are in compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standards.Maintains current knowledge of relevant scientific and technical developments.Presents ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.CORE QUALIFICATIONSPh.D., M.D. or other doctoral level degree in relevant fieldMinimum 10 years of relevant experienceKnowledge, Skills and Attitudes:Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission, and more.Patient safety is a top priority.
