The Department of Anesthesiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the next Vice Chair for Research. With a unified data structure, electronic medical record and IRB across all 69 hospitals of Advocate Health System, this is a unique opportunity to leverage the strength of the enterprise in data extraction, large registries and clinical trials networks. The department enjoys a strong national and international reputation and is a consistently sought after clinical trials site across a range of subspecialties. In addition, the faculty includes several exceptionally well-funded individuals with a strong track record of scholarship that has impacted the practice of anesthesiology, critical care and pain medicine.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with department and institutional leaders to enhance the department's research infrastructure.

Develop and implement a strategic plan to secure extramural research funding.

Build and support a pipeline of independently funded clinical and basic science investigators.

Lead and coordinate research activities across the department, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Establish a robust mentoring program for junior faculty and trainees, guiding them toward research independence.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and promote research integrity.

Qualifications

M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent advanced degree currently at the rank of associate professor or professor.

Board eligible or board certified in Anesthesiology or allied field.

Eligibility for licensure in the state of North Carolina.

A proven track record of research leadership and securing extramural funding in an academic health system.

Experience in mentoring and developing research faculty and trainees.

Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
