Position Summary
The
Senior Payroll Tax Analyst
position requires extensive knowledge of various payroll tax compliance laws in all US and across Canada. The position will perform functions in the areas of tax compliance, accurate submission of payroll taxes and tax filings, W2, T4, and T2200 balancing, and will serve as a liaison in providing a point of contact for tax inquiries to include employee level payroll and tax filing. The position will also require an understanding of Payroll Tax Accounting and the ability to create and deliver tax-related and non-tax-related analyses and reporting.
Key Areas of Responsibility:Review all payments and filing of federal, state and local withholding and unemployment taxes in the U.S. and Canada.Responsible for quarter-end and year-end reconciliations of all payroll tax liabilities; prepare payroll tax adjustments as needed to bring W-2 and 941 files into balance.Responsible for assuring tax and SUI updates are input timely and accurately into the ADP payroll system.Payroll tax compliance, including tax research and analysis to maintain compliance for the company which includes clearly documenting new processes as applicable.Serve as a subject matter expert on all payroll tax related matters.Assist ADP Tax Services in responding to all tax notices and governmental correspondence. This will include, but is not limited to, tax overpayments and/or refunds, as well as penalty and interest claims.Responsible for the tax analysis on all mergers and acquisitions to ensure tax requirements are thoroughly completed.Resolve payroll tax inquiries/issues for employees; create W-2Cs or 941 amendments when necessary.Participate in a wide variety of ad-hoc reports, special projects, process improvements and analysis as necessary.Reconcile various Payroll Tax Accounts on the balance sheet.Utilizing ADP Smart compliance and OSV, investigate penalties and interest and resolution for notices.Use Workday and ADP tax portal to perform maintenance, auditing, and reporting.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experienceMinimum of four years of related work experienceExperience with ADPMust possess excellent time management skills to ensure that all employee tax setups are completed and the company's quarterly and annual returns are filed timelyProficiency in Microsoft Office; including Outlook, Word and especially Excel (VLOOKUP and PivotTables)Ability to multi-task under tight deadlinesProcess-driven while able to be resourceful and adaptableAbility to work independently, in a remote environment, with minimal oversight from supervisorStrong customer service focus with the ability to effectively communicate with government agencies and employeesStrong written and verbal communication skillsCertified Payroll Professional preferredWorkday experience preferred#LI-VC1
