Position: Product Engineer - Custom Order Fulfillment
Position Reports to the CEO and Senior Design Engineer
Job Location: 1718 W Fullerton Ave Chicago, IL 60614
Job Type: Full-Time
The primary responsibility of the Product Engineer will be to design architectural light fixtures for custom order fulfillment. This consists of full light fixture assembly using Pure Edge products in SolidWorks. Customization includes the manipulation of standard existing products using in-house manufacturing methods and capabilities. This role will work closely with the Application Engineer when designing products for specific jobs. The Product Engineer will deliver 2D assembly drawings to production, both 2D and 3D component files to purchasing if necessary.
Responsibilities
Engineer custom architectural lighting fixtures using the existing productsDesign 3D assemblies, 3D components, and 2D production drawings using SolidWorksUse SolidWorks to develop 2D drawings for vendors for quotingNotifies CEO, Director of Engineering, and Purchasing of any discovered product defects via e-mail and in-personOther duties and projects as assignedEnsures product designs adhere to local standardsRequirements
Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and 2D drawings)Basic familiarity with general construction methodologies (framing, drywalling, plastering, etc.)Familiarity with LED lighting systems (power supplies, load calculations & limits, etc.)Strong geometric and mathematical skillsStrong ability to communicate with internal stakeholdersWillingness to change and improve job deliverables to adapt to the needs of supported cross-functional team membersAn engineering degree with an emphasis on manufacturing is preferredKnowledge of UL requirements2 years working with electrical and lighting productsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAbout You
