Overview

The Treasurer is a detail-oriented, leadership level finance role, responsible for overseeing several functions in the department, including reconciling cash transactions, working with accounts payable, and ensuring accuracy in financial records. The Treasurer reports to the CFO and directs the Treasury Manager and other members of the Treasury team in an effort to support the day-to-day financial operations of the company.This role must possess attention to detail, a quality mindset, and a drive to achieve results.This position plays a crucial role in managing our financial assets, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and optimizing our cash flow. The Treasurer is responsible for a wide range of treasury, finance and accounting functions.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport the "Cavender's Culture" and drive our Mission, Vision, and ValuesImplement best practices in financial management and reportingInitiate disbursements for the Real Estate department and maintain accurate recordsBalance sales to bank deposits dailyManage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development

Identify and address skills gaps within the team, ensuring the department is equipped to meet current and future challenges

Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvementPresent financial reports to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendationsOversee the preparation and timely submission of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statementsForecast cash flow needs and manage liquidityManage short-term investments to maximize returns while ensuring liquidityPrepare and reconcile bank statements to the general ledgerInvestigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely mannerEnsure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and internal policiesIdentify and mitigate financial risksLead special projects and initiatives, planning and execution from time to time focusing on treasury related activitiesDevelop and maintain positive relationships with banks, financial institutions, and vendorsOther duties as assignedQualifications and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fieldCertified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designationMinimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership roleStrong analytical thinking and research capabilitiesAbility to prioritize and multitask to meet tax-filing deadlinesKnowledge of accounting procedures and practices appropriate for an AccountantDetail-oriented with organizational skillsHigh ethical standards and integrityProficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong written and verbal communication skillsBased in Tyler, TX at our home office; Tyler area residencePreferred Skills

Experience in the retail industry or a similar fieldFamiliarity with treasury management systems (TMS)Knowledge of international treasury operations and foreign exchange managementExperience with cash forecasting and budgetingExperience with accounting systems and processesStrong project management skills
