CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for a Contour Operations Support Engineer.
Type: Contract
Job Title: Contour Operations Support Engineer
Location: Midland, NC
Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Education: BS or MS in Mechanical, Industrial, Ceramics, or other applicable Engineering discipline
A successful candidate in this position will possess strong soft skills as well as:
• Mechanical design experience with parametric modeling
• Strong problem-solving abilities
Description
Work with Operations and Engineering team members to solve technical problems in our plant in Midland, NC. Support the ramp-up of new products and processes in a high-paced production environment. Drive process capability and improvement efforts via mechanical design and problem-solving methodologies. Support the development and execution of solutions for existing and new technologies resulting in superior processes.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Assess performance gaps and identify opportunities for new process equipment.
• Recommend improvements based on gap analysis of process flow.
• Generate designs based on agreed solutions.
• Draft quote packages and obtain competing quotes from vendors.
• Deploy prototypes and select designs based on functionality and performance.
• Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
• Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operations.
• Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide training for operations/technical workforce regarding equipment or operations changes.
Required Qualifications
Education:
• BS or MS in Mechanical, Industrial, Ceramics, or other applicable Engineering discipline
Qualifications:
• 3-5 years of engineering work experience in a manufacturing/production environment
Required Skills:
• Mechanical design, experience with parametric modeling and technical drafting
• Follow structured problem-solving methodology when assessing and recommending solutions
• Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
• Strong technical fundamentals with process engineering skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize work independently
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Basic understanding of troubleshooting and safety requirements in a manufacturing environment
• Works well in a team environment
• Willingness to be hands-on with the equipment and interact with the operations environment
Desired Skills:
• Experience with experimental design
• Project management experience
• Experience applying statistical principles and using software such as Minitab or JMP
• Experience with polymer or acrylate coatings
• Experience with glass forming and coating application processes
