Contour Operations Support Engineer

Job Summary:
The Contour Operations Support Engineer collaborates with Operations and Engineering teams to solve technical challenges in Client's Optical Fiber plant in Midland, NC. This role supports the ramp-up of new products and processes in a fast-paced production environment, driving process capability and improvement efforts through mechanical design and problem-solving methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:Performance Assessment:Evaluate performance gaps and identify opportunities for new process equipment.Process Improvement Recommendations:Recommend improvements based on a thorough gap analysis of process flow.Design Generation:Create designs based on agreed-upon solutions and draft quote packages, obtaining competitive quotes from vendors.Prototype Deployment:Deploy prototypes and select designs based on functionality and performance metrics.Documentation Development:Develop and update engineering and operations documentation to reflect changes and improvements.Production Support:Provide engineering-level support to manufacturing operations, identifying chronic issues and recommending corrective actions.Training:Conduct training for operations and technical personnel regarding equipment or operational changes.Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Ceramics, or a related Engineering discipline.3-5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment.Required Skills:
Proficient in mechanical design, with experience in parametric modeling and technical drafting.Ability to follow structured problem-solving methodologies when assessing and recommending solutions.Quick learner of new technologies and processes.Strong technical fundamentals with solid process engineering skills.Ability to multitask and prioritize work independently.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Basic understanding of troubleshooting and safety requirements in a manufacturing environment.Ability to work well in a team environment.Willingness to engage hands-on with equipment and interact within the operations environment.Desired Skills:
Experience with experimental design.Project management experience.Familiarity with applying statistical principles and using software such as Minitab or JMP.Experience with polymer or acrylate coatings.Knowledge of glass forming and coating application processes.
