First Line of Defense Risk Manager
Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a First Line of Defense Risk Manager to join their team. This role is essential for implementing and managing the first line of defense risk management program. The successful candidate will work closely with first line testers and provide training to ensure consistent and effective testing of control design and effectiveness. This position is based onsite in San Francisco.
Responsibilities:
Lead a new team to perform first line testing of controls to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of key controls.
Support the development of Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) control testing frameworks and methodologies.
Conduct quality assessments of RCSAs completed by First Line managers and make updates as needed.
Create and maintain detailed control testing documentation and review commentary.
Manage and coordinate all risk activities to ensure material/key risks are identified, escalated, managed, tracked, and remediated timely.
Analyze, aggregate, and articulate the results/issues/recommendations related to control testing activities to business unit senior management.
Assist with the validation and closure of control issues identified through testing results.
Provide day-to-day management, oversight, and longer-term development planning of a risk management team.
Requirements:
Experience with risk and control identification, designing, planning, implementing, and testing RCSAs, and effectively managing a testing/audit/RCSA program.
Strong knowledge of banking operations, products, and services; experience with risks and controls/control gap identification related to Loan Operations, Commercial Lending and Banking, Bank Support and Corporate functions (such as Marketing, HR, Accounting, FP&A, etc.). AML/BSA, Payment Fraud, Cross-border Banking, and Digital Banking experience is a plus.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong influential skills.
Experience working in a dynamic environment to execute an evolving first line of defense risk management program, including the identification, communication, reporting, escalation, and validation of RCSA test results and remediation efforts.
Knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards, practices, and expectations for regional/large banks.
Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills.
Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PPT, Visio).
Professional/Industry Accredited Risk Management certification (e.g., CIA, PRM, CRMP) is a big plus
Compensation:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $70 - $80 per hour.
