GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Principal and Assistant Principal(s), the Summer Lead assists in the development and implementation of the total summer school program.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide leadership to Summer School Staff

Together with the Principal and Assistant Principal(s), communicate with families about the program, student progress, and student behavior, using translated materials and/or interpreters as necessary.Together with the Principal and Assistant Principal(s), identify students to recruit for summer; register students for summer; and track student progress with appropriate data.Create, communicate, and maintain the daily schedule, ensuring it meets the necessary requirements for summer programming and serve as a resource to summer school staff using clear channels of communication.Ensure all program requirements are met through the schedule, attendance, and curriculum and all necessary supplies are ordered, delivered, and inventoried in a timely manner.Handle logistics and communication to Central Office as needed.Assist teachers and students in escalated discipline/behavior situations, using the code of conduct and involving an administrator if necessary.Actively participate in each county Summer Lead meetings and trainings.Be present for the entirety of the summer program, and work with building administrators to prepare for the event of a Summer Lead's, Principal's, or Assistant Principal's absence.Support and demonstrate core values of Stafford County Public Schools

Hold or be actively pursuing an educational leadership certificate or degree.At least three years of successful full-time experience as a teacher, supervisor, or administrator; the most recent of which must be in Stafford Schools.A recommendation from the current Principal or Assistant Principal who supervises the applicant.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work environment is primarily inside, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.The work is light work, requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force to move or lift objects.The following physical and mental abilities are representative of those expected to complete the essential functions of the job: standing for prolonged periods; sitting for prolonged periods; moving the hands, wrists, or fingers repetitively; moving with force on the back or lower body repetitively; feeling, grasping, or holding objections by hand; identifying colors visually; identifying objects in low light or distant conditions; communicating via spoken language; communicating via written language; perceiving sounds; making decisions using logic and rational thinking.
