Overview
Upon receipt of a prescription from a qualified practitioner, the Physical Therapist evaluates patients and develops treatment plans appropriate for the patient's diagnosis, precautions, history, age/developmental level and physical examination. The therapist observes patient progress, modifies treatment plans and educates the patient to the purpose of the treatment and expected results/effects. The therapist documents evaluations, progress notes, reevaluations and discharges in the medical record. He/she maintains departmental records and complies with regulatory agencies. Demonstrates awareness of safety issues, indications/contraindications of treatment, patient privacy and confidentiality. Provides support within the department as needed and within the community for education.Qualifications
Age of Patients Served:All Age Groups.Required Education:Bachelor's Degree. Specific course work: Physical Therapy preferredNecessary Skills:1. Knowledge of Physical Therapy theory, procedures, practices and equipment. 2. Good communication skills. 3. Thorough knowledge of possible hazards/necessary precautions/remedial measures in the treatment and care of patients. 4. Good understanding of all therapy equipment. 5. Ability to assess patient's response to treatment. 6. Ability to coordinate a diverse treatment program for multiple diagnoses. 7. Computer skills in Word and Excel.Required Licensure/Certifications:Current Florida Physical Therapy license.Preferred Experience:Experience in acute care setting, skilled nursing unit, wound care and out-patients.Preferred Education:Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy
