Overview
The Manager of CICC is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operations and conduct and maintenance of the client intake and conflicts functions, as well as the related database and systems of the firm. The Manager of CICC oversees the day-to-day operations of the firm's Client Intake and Conflict Control ("CICC") department, including the daily supervision of the CICC staff and the management of client intake and conflicts matters and processes in CICC.
The Manager of CICC serves as an initial point of contact for department customers and staff, and oversees and assists in training firm personnel in conflicts and intake rules and procedures. These responsibilities include directly and indirectly managing supervisory, analyst, and other administrative staff responsible for processing of conflicts reports and new matter forms and information in connection with new business and lateral hires, as well as those responsible for performing various database and systems maintenance and management functions.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Directly manages the CICC Supervisor, CICC Supervisor - Laterals, the Conflicts Systems and Data Supervisor, and potentially others, and indirectly manages the day-to-day activities of 14 or more additional personnel, including Conflicts Analysts, the Conflicts Systems and Data team, and administrative personnel, in multiple domestic and overseas offices and locations, and across multiple time zones, including needs assessments, staff planning, workflow and work assignments, HR issues, trouble shooting, decision making and goal setting.Responsible for overseeing the hiring and training of new conflicts, systems and data, and administrative staff and the performance evaluation process, including conducting regular one-on-one sessions, and drafting and delivering periodic reviews. Responsible for staff personnel supervision and issues, including HR issues. Works closely with the Director of CICC on departmental workforce planning, including short-, mid- and long-term workforce strategy.Provides outstanding customer service on behalf and as a face of the department, offering insight-driven recommendations to internal clients with the benefit of substantive experience and business savvy, and actively entertaining and negotiating internal client requests and demands on a range of issues with outcomes consistent with both client needs and departmental strengths and constraints.Oversees the processing of conflicts reports and new matter forms and information, overall intake processing, and conflicts checking and reporting.Monitors department workflow to ensure accurate and timely results; triages work to ensure timely delivery of urgent requests; runs conflict searches, as necessary to keep the department on track.Organizes and leads periodic staff and other meetings for CICC personnel.Assists on resolution of conflicts issues when elevated and as appropriate.Performs quality control to ensure that the conflicts, intake, and administrative operations of the department are in keeping with the needs of the firm and applicable policies and procedures.Works closely with senior CICC personnel on developing improved department processes, including the review and evolution of best practices and algorithms. Acts as a liaison between legal and non-legal staff to identify and assess process inefficiencies and provides recommendations on process improvements on intake and conflicts processing.Identifies appropriate topics for staff education designs and executes related training on such topics and on overall department procedures.Understands firm IT and systems as they pertain to conflicts, ethical walls, and other issues relevant to the department, and assists the CICC Product Manager in the integration of existing and new systems with departmental operations. Works closely with the CICC Product Manager, other CICC personnel, and other firm departments, as appropriate, to implement upgrades, change orders, and solutions, including drafting of requirements, testing, training, and rollout.Organizes and monitors special projects within the department on intake, database, and process issues, as well as complex cross-departmental initiatives, programs, and problem-solving, including without limitation with respect to firm IT, systems, databases, protocols, best practices, training, and other areas that implicate multiple firm stakeholders; liaises and forges strong partnerships with other firm departments.Works closely with senior CICC personnel on long-term department strategy, review and reporting on internal metrics, and benchmarking against peer firms.Prepares and oversees implementation of the departmental budget and related budgeting processes, including expense accounting and control.Liaises with other firm departments on administrative, systems and conflicts issues; provides leadership and guidance for procedures and processes spanning different support staffing groups. Manages change transitions.Performs other work-related assignments and projects as required.ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree required.Three to five years of experience managing a conflicts, risk-management or similar function at a large law firm or similar organization.Five to seven years of experience working in a conflicts, risk management, or similar function at a large law firm or similar organization.
