UBP is looking for an energetic, highly motivated professional to serve as the R&D Manager. The selected candidate will play a key role in helping support the R&D Dept. The full-time employee in this position will be responsible for creating new product formulations, overseeing R&D processes, helping create and monitor a consistent high-quality product and maintain or develop new customer and supplier relationships.
Responsibilities
Product development of personal care and skin care products
Key contributor to the reformulation of existing product lines in alignment with current regulatory guidelines.
Develop prototype synthetics, organic and natural formulas for personal care products and perform laboratory evaluations.
Assist the regulatory team with high priority projects
Formulate new products per the PDR requirements.
Manage the R&D team (chemist) to meet the needs of the department
Input on standard Operating Procedures related to batching and quality control and new products
Sourcing of new novel raw materials for use in Universal Beauty Products if necessary
Responsible for development of new products, processes, methods and formulations
Perform feasibility evaluations and prepare samples
Maintain detailed, accurate and organized batch notebook records
Prepare standards and specifications for processes, products and test methods
Provide technical support to Production dept as needed
Evaluate equipment for new product development
Support safety rules, regulations and policies of the company
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field; preferred a Master's degree in Chemistry.
7-10 years of lab experience (clearly defined in resume)
Candidate with experience in formulation of personal care development .
Knowledge of scientific data such as material safety data sheet (MSDS), certificate of analysis. Proficient in testing methods such as: Viscosity, specific gravity, pH and stability .
7-10 years of experience in formulating beauty products.
Prefer an innovator with project management skills and the ability to multitask.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills needed.
Must be a good listener who can organize, trouble shoot, problem solve and pay attention to details.
