Position Summary/objective:

The primary purpose for this role is to provide strategic leadership, guidance and direction to the operations (Facility, Engineering & Supply Chain) and Administrative departments at a fast-paced, fast-growth, mid-size global biotechnology company. This position will foster the creation of a high-quality, responsive, customer service-oriented and safe work environment while ensuring compliance with the organizations' performance standards and other applicable federal and state requirements within the Facilities and Administration teams.

Essential functions:

Managerial function is the number one priority at Immatics for all people leaders. As you are responsible for management, development, growth, and coaching of team members, this is your most important duty at Immatics.

Turn feedback into coaching moments and show your willingness to be a partner in team members career development at Immatics.Reward and give credit to team members when they so deserve - publicly and privately.Lead and coach the administrative and operations teams to provide the internal and external customers with excellent service and support mindset.

Operations (Facilities and Engineering) essential functions include:

Responsible for strategic planning and oversight of all facility building related activities, including the development and implementation of technical operations strategy, and identification of opportunities for continuous process improvement and resources allocation.Forecast activities and communicate project status to senior management. Provides clear communication of the status and alerts senior management of potential issues or risks and mitigation measures.Ensure that facilities and operations comply with applicable regulations, such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), CLIA, and environmental standards. This involves conducting regular inspections, addressing safety concerns, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining documentation.Develop and manage the budget, including capital expenditures, staffing, and operational expenses. Optimize resource allocation, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensure efficient resource utilization. Maintain and manage all service agreements and maintenance operation contracts providing standardization, cost driven improvements, and sustainable resources for operational support.Responsible for strategic leadership in the engineering part of the department as business needs arise including but not limited to: leadership and oversight of planning, scheduling, and construction of new facilities as necessary, collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners. This includes building offices, biological labs, cleanrooms for manufacturing and facility upkeep maintenance. This involves providing technical guidance, fostering effective communication and collaboration to achieve common goals; and incorporating team needs into designs and plans for facility growth enhancements and changes.Review and approve service agreements of facility contractors providing standardization, cost driven improvements, and sustainable resources for operational support.Ensure operational integrity by oversight and guidance when it comes to facility leases, utilities, and safety protocols to support business activities and corporate goals.Responsible for managing the operations team, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure that all employees are working effectively and efficiently.In collaboration with other departments leads for R&D, quality assurance, quality control, regulatory affairs, manufacturing and commercialization, implement infrastructure and equipment to support demands of growth.Responsible for compliance with operational and environmental safety regulations and continuously enhancing safety performanceSupport the Site Head with the Business Continuity Plan.Administrative essential functions include:

Provide strategic leadership and guidance to administrative operations of the US sites and ensure the smooth running of all related activities.Manage administrative staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.Plan all company related events in agreement with the US Site Head.Oversee and execution of events and assure these provide the level of professional and customer service to stakeholders such as: (conferences, retreats, Board meetings, site meetings and team-building activities.)Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures that align with the organization's goals and objectives.Oversee administrative budgets and ensure that expenses are within budgetary constraints.Oversee all organizational insurance policies, negotiate renewals with brokers and keep abreast of policies.Align with the administration Germany team on global administration initiatives

Required education and experience:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering or a related field.10+ years of progressively responsible operations experience related to technical operations, engineering, facility set up, production, materials, inventory management production scheduling, preventative maintenance, and shipping.Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the facilities-related environment, with over 10 years in management and team development, including at least three years of team management experience.Proven experience with GMP facilities, warehouses, clean rooms, offices, and related facilities.Extensive understanding and hands-on experience in the startup, shutdown, operation, and maintenance of ISO 5 or less Clean Room Facilities.Proficiency in facilities and building systems management, including knowledge of building codes, regulations, and related activities.Strong background in project management, machine design, process improvement, and reliability.Demonstrated ability to measure performance to company goals and standards and establish targets for improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee relations.

Preferred education and experience

Master's degree or higher in Business, Public Administration, or related discipline.Certifications in operational excellence preferred (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)Previous business experience in biotech/pharma industry is highly valuable. Knowledge of regulatory and compliance documents, including experience with audits from the FDA, EU, and other relevant agencies.Previous significant leadership in fast-growing organizations.Experience in companies manufacturing cell therapy productsExperience in the management and administration of operations or programs in the Biotech business environment.Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
