About Campus Pre-School & Early Childhood Center:

Founded in 1971, Campus Pre-School & Early Childhood Center, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit center governed by a Board of Directors. Located on the Binghamton University Campus, the Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). Priority for enrollment is given to children of Binghamton University students, faculty, and staff. As space is available, community members are also served.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation and administration and supervision of the program, staff, curriculum and services in accordance with the policies of the Board of Directors and NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) or NYC Department of Health (DOH) licensing regulations. The Executive Director of CPS&ECC is responsible for creating an environment, which is warm and loving and contributes to the emotional, physical, educational, and social development of the children in the center.

Reporting Relationships: The director reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Exercises strong organizational leadership in managing day to day operations of the center and implements policies and procedures on behalf of the Board of Directors.

Responsible for staff supervision and staff development: recruits, interviews, hires, schedules, trains, supervises, evaluates, counsels, or dismisses personnel according to the personnel policies and procedures; maintains open communication with the staff.

Maintains a high-quality program, including development and implementation of an appropriate curriculum, classroom programming, health, social services, parent involvement, and parent education.

Responsible for administrative systems, ensuring that resources, money, space, and equipment are used to their maximum effectiveness. Monitors income and expenses of the center; develops budgets and grant proposals with input from the Board, staff, and parents to ensure that the center remains financially viable; coordinates with all appropriate agencies to provide funding sources to maintain on-going support for the center. Administers contracts on behalf of the center and ensures that appropriate internal controls are in place.

Maintains communication with families, serving as a trusted resource and forging relationships with parents.

Maintains open communication with the Board of Directors, attending all Board of Directors meetings as requested and preparing regular reports to the Board.

Represents the center in the community, serving as the chief ambassador for the center.

Maintains a strong relationship with Binghamton University, serving as a cooperative partner and ensuring that the center remains an asset to the college and community.

Works with staff and appropriate agencies to maintain center licensure.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education that includes courses in early childhood education, child development, elementary education or early childhood special education or related field AND courses in administration, leadership, or management AND one year full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program AND one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work.

OR

New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential AND one-year full-time teaching experience in a childcare center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program AND one year of experience supervising staff in a childcare program or related field of work

OR

Associate degree in Early Childhood or related field with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor's degree, a New York State Program Administration credential AND two years full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program AND two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field of work

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to at least one of the above minimum requirements):

Executive administrative, business and/or accounting experience

Working knowledge of Bright Wheel and QuickBooks

Additional Information:

Salary commensurate with experience

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday days, occasional evenings and weekends
