We are committed to building and sustaining a culture that pursues and rewards intellectual curiosity and innovative thinking.The Financial Analyst supports key business decisions through analysis, modeling, and reporting related to budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis, and other ongoing financial management. The analyst will provide financial information, analysis, and projections to stakeholders and work with them to recommend actions; synthesize, identify insights from, and provide concise commentary on key financial information; support long-range planning and ad-hoc business decisions; and produce monthly and quarterly financial reporting. The ideal candidate has strong analytical and communication skills, with an ability to both summarize information and communicate key messages. This role involves working closely with other members of the finance team as well as colleagues across our administration and research groups.Major responsibilities of this position:Work closely with colleagues from finance and other relevant stakeholders to provide budget management and financial support for the Institute's operationsSupport development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, as well as preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reportingAssist in the development of cost models to support breakeven analysis and pricingProvide ad-hoc financial analysis and modeling to support business decisionsUnder limited supervision, prepare and present the results of financial analyses to diverse audiences, including scientific and administrative leaders, in order to support decision making and promote general understanding of finance throughout the Broad communityAssist in development, implementation, maintenance, and use of planning and reporting toolsMinimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance or relevant experience 2-3+ years of experience in relevant rolesStrong Excel and analytical skillsAbility to collaborate with others at all levels, including senior leadershipAbility to uncover and explain the root cause(s) and impacts of variances and data anomaliesStrong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills, and use of PowerPointStrong organizational skills and ability to manage tasks in light of competing prioritiesExperience working with financial and human resources systems (ERP) data and analysis toolsDesired Qualifications:
MBA, or an Advanced Degree in Business, Finance, or EconomicsExperience working in a non-profit environment A continuous improvement mindsetThe Broad Institute will not offer Visa Sponsorship for this role.
