JOB SUMMARY :Under the direction of the Director of Respiratory Services the Respiratory Care Therapist will administer treatments, perform patient assessments and management of home care, diagnostic evaluations and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system, and assist with the staff education and departmental quality assurances program.Key functions of the position address the population served by the department include neonates, through geriatrics.QUALIFICATIONS :
JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES:
Aerozolized medication delivery per nebulizerOxygen therapy per nasal cannula with SPO2Volume expansion therapy, incentive Spirometer.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Upon receipt of physician's order the Respiratory Therapist will:
Promptly deliver aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, volume expansion therapy, initiate non-invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation, document all required information in patients' chart, and participate in all CPR events.The therapist will make arrangements with DME companies for patients' respiratory care needs at home, perform after hours EKGs and PFTs clean any needed equipment and keep it in ready condition, provide patient/family education as well as staff education when needed, maintain a positive, friendly working attitude.EXPECTED BEHAVIORS :
The Associate will exhibit the "Patients First" attitude/demeanor to all customers.Will demonstrate teamwork by being supportive and positive towards co-workers and other disciplines.Is accountable for their own actions and how it affects the work environment, and accepts constructive criticismMust be dedicated to excellence in the hospital by displaying good time management skills, seeking out extra responsibilities and takes pride in their work by not being critical of the customers they serve. • Has good written and verbal communication skills in the English languageFollow all departmental and hospital policies and procedures.Process data and make decisions based on that processed data.Prioritize and make decisions based on the work assignment and patient care needs.Position Requirements
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT); Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
ADDITIONAL LICENSURE/CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Successful completion of an approved Respiratory Care Program Credentialed or eligible by the National Board for Respiratory Care Licensed by the State of Indiana.Must maintain current licensure by completing all educational requirements through the State of Indiana.Must obtain ACLS within 6 months of hire and remain current.Must obtain PALS and NRP within 1 year of hire and remain current.ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Mandatory Annual Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Confidentiality-HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance.Annual Unit Specific Competencies, and all education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
