Calvary Women's Services is expanding its housing and services to meet the needs of more homeless women in the District of Columbia. We are seeking people who want use their skills and experience to advance Calvary's mission of empowering homeless women to transform their lives.

The Program Assistant works to ensure the safe and effective operation of a transitional housing program for the benefit of residents, staff and the larger Calvary community. This position is responsible for working with the Program team to manage the daily operations of the program site. Hours are from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm each weekday.

Primary DutiesOrganize and manage the reception area including accepting and sorting mail and packages, answering phones and directing callers, directing visitors and receiving donations and deliveries.Provide supplies, mail distribution, resources and other support to residentsEnsure the safe and secure entry/exit of people (residents, staff, vendors, volunteers) from the buildingAssist with serving breakfast and lunchAccept inquiries from prospective residents and route inquiries to the appropriate team member(s)Assist with supply inventory, ordering and storage.Requirements

Three years administrative experienceTwo years' experience working in human services related organizationRequirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to maintain positive and cooperative working relations with colleagues, volunteers, and residents.Confidence with public speaking and in representing the organization in a variety of settings.Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and databases.Strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree and 3 to 4 years' experience in a community organizing, volunteer management, community outreach, or community liaison role. Non-profit experience in a residential setting preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Own transportation is required for trips out of the officeMove, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistanceReach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.Climbing: Ascending or descending multiple flights of stairs, using feet and legs and/or hands and armsStand, sit, or walk for an extended period
