Job Description
As a member of the mechanical engineering team in Fort Washington, the team member will be responsible for the research, design, development, documentation and testing of mechanical and electrical subsystems and robotic automation manufacturing equipment for the semiconductor industry. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop some or all of the following:High speed, precision motion systems controllers for semiconductor fabrication equipment for a market leader in the fieldCritical process enabling technology to support customer requirements for semiconductor assemblyResponsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
Design Servo and Motion Control Systems for a wire bonding semiconductor machinery with goals to increase speed and improve accuracyDefine motion performance requirements and specificationsConduct cross functional collaboration with electrical, process, and manufacturing engineeringAssess filter and gain designs and robustness using hands on testing and MATLAB simulationCreate product validation plan including required testing through experimental setupsSupport initial startup of prototype motion systemsConduct prototype testing, data collection, processing, analysis and documentationDevelopment of manufacturing tests methods and documentationProvide technical support to our field engineers and customersQualifications
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Similar engineering (BS minimum, MS preferred)2+ years of hands-on engineering development experience with electromechanical systemsMatlab programming at an intermediate level (emphasis on data analysis)Basic controls knowledge (PID controllers, bandwidth, phase and gain margin, etc...)Work in a multi-disciplined team environmentGood communication and interpersonal skillsSelf-motivated with a strong work ethic and efficient organizationAbility to travel occasionally, domestically and internationallyHelpful Skills and Experience:
Simulink/block diagramsAnalog & Digital controlsDigital signal processing and frequency domain analysis (Bodes, FFTs, filtering techniques)Familiarity with classical and robust controls methodologiesRoboticsElectronicsTest methods: Accelerometer testing, modal analysis, bode collection, motion performanceTest equipment: oscilloscopes, laser vibrometer, accelerometer, current probes, load cells, etc...Additional programming experience: Assembly, C, C++ and git for revision controlMotor and encoder selection for high speed motion performance, precision, robustness, cost effectiveness. Understanding of motor design including magnetics is a bonusFamiliarity with vibration damping methodsSense of timeliness and desire in wanting to find solutions for new product R&DHands on problem solving at all levels of product developmentGood intuitive understanding of dynamicsResearch of new technologies and methods through academic literature
