Overview

The Ice Rink Director is responsible for overseeing the Ice Rink department, and ice usage at the Community Ice Rink ("CIR") and Angel Of The Winds Arena ("Main Rink"), including but not limited to managing rink schedules, skate sharpening and repair, concession sales, league management and on-ice programing/instructions. Provides leadership and initiative in developing, maximizing and maintaining ice sales and programming within the facility.This is balanced with strong customer service ability, team leadership and business acumen.Direct reports include Ice Rink Supervisor, ice rink attendants and ice rink customer service staff.

This role will pay a wage of $75,000 to $90,000 and is bonus eligible.

ResponsibilitiesProvides sound financial management of the Ice Rink department, including overall rental and ice use schedules, hockey schools and tournaments and other marketing strategies.Manage subordinate supervisors.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Coordinates the use of the CIR and Main Rink. Works closely with hockey and skating associations, scheduling ice usage and making necessary arrangements for the personnel, equipment and materials to be on hand.Responsible for promoting and representing facility in a positive manner at all times.Investigate, analyze and resolve operational problems and complaints.Conduct periodic staff meetings to discuss procedures, problems and policy changes.Develop operating procedures that conform to corporate standards, customized to the specific needs of the facility and consistent with the goals and objectives of the client and facility.Maintains records of activities and programs, completing reports and making recommendations for improvement to programming.Coordinates repairs and preventative maintenance on rink equipment with the assistance of Director of Operations and Chief Engineer.Responsible for development of the department's annual operating budget and responsible for its implementation, delivery and achievement, and to forecast throughout the year.Responsible for assisting General Manager with capital planning.Books ice using the Bond Sports system and VenuePro and creates ice rink schedule for CIR & Main RinkSchedules all ice usage with all user groupsCoordinates all Silvertips practice ice needsManages scheduling and payroll for all direct reports, including submission of all relevant action forms to the Staff AccountantResponds to and troubleshoots issues outside of regular working hoursDevelops and establishes the ice user pool to best utilize iceOVG's representative to Everett Youth Hockey Advisory Board.OVG's representative to Everett Figure Skating Club (EFSC) board of directorsCreates annual department marketing plan with Marketing Dept.Oversees, manages and markets all hockey and skating programs at the facilityOversees, manages and markets all Birthday Party and group ice rentalsDevelops and oversees ice programming including "Learn-To" programs and moreWorks together with user groups during tournaments and special eventsSchedules ongoing rental skate sharpening and repairsEnsure appropriate levels of staff with safety/first-aid/CPR/bloodborne pathogens training per facility policyWeekly and other reporting required by General Manager and Director of FinanceContinuous development of the Ice Rink departmentAll other duties as assignedQualifications

Bachelors Degree or better from an accredited college or university with major coursework in sports management, business administration, recreation & leisure or other related field - OR - minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible experience in an ice rink facility or other multi-purpose/multi-sport facilityMust possess an advanced knowledge of skating and be able to skate at an advanced levelAdvanced knowledge of hockey and ice programmingSignificant knowledge of youth hockey programming and developmentSignificant knowledge of "learn-to" programming and developmentMust be familiar with USA Hockey and US Figure Skating rules, procedures and policiesKnowledge of website maintenance and social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and InstagramFamiliarity with booking procedures and rental agreements in an ice rink facility preferredFamiliarity with booking software/POS systems in an ice rink facility preferredDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, graphic design, PowerPoint and Internet softwareExcellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsProven leadership skills and staff supervision experiencePrior experience in team and league management
