EXECUTIVE MINISTER
JOB DESCRIPTION
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Executive Minister provides leadership for all ministry departments at Plainfield Christian Church, bringing vision and alignment as each ministry works together to help the church become fully alive in Jesus. The Executive Minister guides strategic planning and team building to ensure that all Plainfield Christian ministry areas are effectively helping people engage with Jesus, in community, and on mission.
GENERAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry Leadership
Encourage and incorporate strategic planning processes and protocols into ministry team development and alignment.Lead and promote the completion of church wide strategic initiatives managed by cross functional teams.Ensure the collection and reporting of key metrics and indicators of church health.Work with media arts to ensure alignment of communications and vision.Serve as the "face" and "voice" for the staff of the elders' and Senior Minister's vision.Assist the ministry directors in creating their annual budgets.Staff Culture
Work with the Executive Team to implement and reinforce the staff and elders' calling to serve and equip God's people through our leadership values of expecting the supernatural, being known for love, replacing yourself, and making it better.Assist in the development of the staff organizational structure and roles to achieve best specific ministry and overall team performance.Provide ministry-minded leadership in the hiring process for all roles.Leadership Development
Serve not as an all-star player, but as a Hall of Fame coach. Intentionally multiply through effective recruitment, training, coaching, mentoring, and empowering of volunteers and staff.Coach and shepherd the Directors' Team with a combination of team meetings and regular individual times of shepherding, goal setting, and check-in rhythms.Provide clear goals and vision for ministry departments and leaders, then release decision-making authority to encourage creativity and ownership.Motivate, encourage, develop, and assist team members to reach their God-given potential.General Ministerial Duties
Provide general pastoral care and biblical counsel to members of the congregation.Lead or participate in church-wide strategic initiatives as needed.GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Exhibit the qualities of a life that is fully alive: with Jesus, in community, on mission.Align with the values and articles of faith of Plainfield Christian Church.Demonstrate the presence of spiritual gifts such as leadership, administration, faith, discernment/wisdom, or knowledge/teaching.Possess the heart of a shepherd, walking with people as they grow in faith.Display strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate vision and work effectively in one-on-one and small-group settings with staff and senior leadership.Thrive in a team environment and lead in a collaborative fashion, serving as a consistent peacemaker and uniter who relates well with people of all walks of life, ages, and genders.Implement mature conflict resolution skills when necessary.Implement consistent strategic planning and project management skills (i.e. proactively planning, organizing, prioritizing, scheduling, coordinating, and completing work tasks and projects in a timely manner).Gather and implement knowledge of organizational structure, ministry philosophy, and church operating procedure best practices.Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.Exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and other appropriate technology.LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Minister serves on the Executive Team alongside the Senior Minister and Executive Director.The Executive Minister reports to the Senior Minister, serving as the primary contact through which the vision of the elders and Senior Minister is distilled and implemented throughout the staff.The Executive Minister advises the Elders and attends Elders meetings as a representative of the ministry staff but is not an Elder.The Executive Minister leads the Directors' Team alongside the Executive Director and is the primary coach for the NextGen Director, Impact Director, Discipleship Director, and Worship Arts Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The Executive Minister must have a bachelor's degree or higher and five years of ministry experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the general duties of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and to use sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer equipment. Requires light physical work typically associated with an office environment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers. Requires speaking and hearing ability to communicate in person and over the phone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are those associated with an office setting and vocational ministry.

WORK HOURS
This is a full-time, exempt, At-Will position. The hours will vary based upon church need and may include weekend hours.
COMPENSATION
This is a salaried position and includes a full benefits package including healthcare, retirement simple IRA plan, paid vacation, paid holidays, and cell phone stipend. Compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
