Job Summary The Plant VTIS Systems Specialist serves a critical need to provide daily technical support and guidance for the processing and fluid-intake areas of the plant. This is considered a key role in helping the Processing Department to ensure that projects are completed, problems are resolved, data is obtained and distributed, and operations are streamlined, efficient and meet the goals of the plant. Essential Duties Responsibilities: Active involvement and engagement in all Safety programs, audits, and policies. Work closely with maintenance and engineering to develop process improvements, system upgrades. Working with the VTIS systems manager, develop and maintain a formalized training program for VTIS technicians. Conduct audits on process procedures and provide options to increase productivity. Work with VTIS manager on setting reclaim setpoints and adjustments. Share oversight of the PM program, including requesting downtime, prioritizing completion, updating their intervals based on failure rates, and adding new PM's. Follow up on diverts, unplanned shutdowns, equipment failures etc. during the supported shift. Complete state-timing as necessary. Work with maintenance and engineering to troubleshoot problems to keep production running. Conduct frequent equipment walkthroughs to spot potential problems while the systems are in operation. Oversee maintenance on the systems to ensure the work is being completed accurately and efficiently. Work with the VTIS coordinators and the VTIS manager to develop and update processing SOP's. Assign cleaning and upkeep tasks for the VTIS area. Audit processing charts and records for accuracy. Create and modify reference tools utilized for troubleshooting system issues. Work with the VTIS coordinators and the VTIS manager to develop and update processing SOP's. Education and Experience: Experience in dairy, preferably ESL or fresh Grade "A" milk processing and production. Experience with Microsoft suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, access, outlook etc. Experience with problem resolution and root cause analysis. Experience with preventative maintenance schedules and management. Experience with Tetra Pak UHT processing equipment. Skills and Competencies: Good organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills. An understanding of basic automation processes such as I/P transducers and PID control loops. Familiarity with valves, pumps, motors, RTD's, and sensors. An understanding of the PMO and its requirements in dairy processing. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift / carry 50lbs. Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment. Must be able to work in hot / cold environments and on concrete floors. Must wear required hearing and eye protection. Must be able to handle prolonged periods of standing.
