Job Description:
As a Property Controller at Castle Park Investments, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our company. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting the overall financial health of our portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of property management accounting, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and manage the day-to-day operations of the general accounting functionResponsible for monthly, quarterly, and year end close process; including bank reconciliation discrepancies, accruals, depreciation and amortization entries, and intercompany / equity reconciliations.Coordinate with the field level to incorporate their input when closing the property level books each month and investigating budget variances.Maintain clean insurance, fixed asset, depreciation, and payroll allocation schedules.Responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable function to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices, accuracy of vendor files, and timely processing of 1099s while focusing on process efficiencies.Manage various state tax filings and payments.Implement and maintain robust internal controls and financial procedures for risk prevention.Assist SVP of Finance with annual audits, external reporting requirements, and implementing accounting software initiatives.Supervise and mentor a team of property accountants, providing guidance and support for their professional development.Requirements
Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a real estate environmentStrong understanding of GAAP accounting and financial statements: T12s, balance sheets, and statement of cash flowsExceptional proficiency with Microsoft ExcelHigh attention to detail and strong analytical, time management and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, and take initiative to investigate and resolve problems using sound judgmentAbility to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced work environmentHighly developed interpersonal skillsPreferred:Licensed CPAExperience with Rent Manager and QuickBooks OnlineResidential real estate experienceBenefits
