Flagship Pioneering Co-Op Program, Cambridge, Massachusetts, us, 02140
Metaphore Biotechnologies, Inc. is a privately held biotechnology company building the next generation of biological therapeutics. Inspired by nature, our mission is to transform patient lives by unlocking the power of biological therapeutics with a new mimic-discovery platform.
Flagship Pioneering is a biotechnology company that invents and builds platform companies, each with the potential for multiple products that transform human health or sustainability. Since its launch in 2000, Flagship has originated and fostered more than 100 scientific ventures, resulting in more than $90 billion in aggregate value. Many of the companies Flagship has founded have addressed humanity's most urgent challenges: vaccinating billions of people against COVID-19, curing intractable diseases, improving human health, preempting illness, and feeding the world by improving the resiliency and sustainability of agriculture. Flagship has been recognized twice on FORTUNE's "Change the World" list, an annual ranking of companies that have made a positive social and environmental impact through activities that are part of their core business strategies, and has been twice named to Fast Company's annual list of the World's Most Innovative Companies. This opportunity will allow the Co-op to engage in hands-on experimental work and gain valuable experience in protein analytics, contributing directly to our Pipeline, Partner, and Platform Development programs. The Co-op will support the development and optimization of analytical assays, execute routine analyses, and synthesize large data sets to support scientific decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize analytical assays to support multiple company programs.Execute and analyze data from a suite of analytical assays, including QC (purity, sizing, thermostability by SEC, DLS, nanoDSF) and kinetics/affinity assessments using Octet BLI.Contribute to the development and implementation of UPLC-based separation methods, including Reversed Phase, Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography, and Ion-Exchange Chromatography.Draft and update protocols, SOPs, and Benchling templates.Research and develop additional methods as needed for developability assessments such as AC-SINS, ELISA, and Poly-reactivity.How This Role Supports Metaphore:
This position is crucial for meeting Metaphore's commitments to Novo Nordisk by developing a comprehensive analytical characterization package for the Caligo project. The Co-op will play a vital role in the ongoing Developability Program, supporting the scaling of upstream functions through increased analytical assay bandwidth. The Co-op's contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the quality control of reagents and informing decision-making on viable drug products.
Collaborative Opportunities:
The Co-op will work closely with various teams, contributing to quality control and process improvement strategies across the company. This highly collaborative role involves interaction with all functional groups, reinforcing the importance of analytical assays in company-wide decision-making.
Required Skillset:
