About this role:
The Director of Production oversees the strategy and theatrical facility operations for Abrons Arts Center, inclusive of our 3 theaters, 2 galleries, outdoor amphitheater, and scene shop. You will model and maintain a safe, positive, collaborative, and professional environment for production over-hire and full time production department team members. You will collaborate with the Operations department on theatrical maintenance and capital projects projects as well lead the production management for the Arts Center's rental client portfolio.
You will manage a Production Manager, Audio Visual Specialist, and Lighting Specialist and will report to the Vice President of Visual and Performing Arts.

Minimum of 5 years of production management experienceConfidence in managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneouslyAn advanced working knowledge of techniques, methods, and procedures of theater, dance, and music productions including stage, scenic, rigging, sound, and lighting design/implementation, stage management and appropriate safety precautions and proceduresAdvanced skills in Vectorworks, Lightwright, Office software, and general proficiency with computer systemsYou will:
Maintain the functionality and safeguarding of the technical assets of the Arts Center's Production Department, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of stage facilitiesManage budget for production department inclusive of approving theatrical-related purchase orders and check requestsPlan and implement theatrical capital and equipment grant applications and implementation in collaboration with the Operations and Development teamsBe the lead production manager for rental client portfolio programsApprove the hiring and onboarding processes of per diem production crew membersTroubleshoot technical challenges as they arise with calm, care, and creativityEssential Physical Job Functions:
Must be New York City basedCertified Public Assembly (F-03) and S-95 certification holderPossessing or open to receiving de-escalation trainingMust be COVID-19 vaccinatedMust be able to move throughout our 40,000+ square foot facility that includes stairs, ramps, indoor and outdoor spaces.A current driver's license is a plus, as well as confidence driving a 15-seat passenger van throughout New York City
