Primary Function
Serve as AV Technical lead and staff mentor in a team of technicians. Provide advanced audiovisual technical leadership for high level events in event spaces, such as Atriums, Auditoriums, and other large venue spaces. Provide specialized daily audiovisual (AV) support for client meetings and events, communicating in both English and Spanish.Rate: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage large live events, such as panel discussions, executive addresses, broadcasts, concerts, or diplomatic congresses, working directly with clients. Provide pre-meeting guidance and day-of meeting consultation and communication.Technically direct virtual and hybrid meetings, utilizing various platforms, with participants and content coming from locations and sources around the worldPerform complex AV equipment and lighting set-up, troubleshooting and testing, especially for live events and large gatherings, and broadcast-style virtual meetingsSet up, operate, and strike conference room and control room systems including varying types of cameras and video switchers, microphones and sound amplification systems, data/video displays and projection systems, AV device control systems, simultaneous interpretation (SI), videoconferencing equipment, computer control systems, professional audio and video recording systems and video streamingAssist Support Desk operations by responding to client calls, monitoring conference room systems via remote desktop software and web cameras and testing video conferences with AV technicians in high level event spacesVerify, test, troubleshoot and monitor virtual or videoconference connections prior to and during meetingsAbility to set up and playback PowerPoint and other presentations, connecting laptop and desktop computers with display interfaces to portable and data projectors; able to correctly size and adjust a data image on-screenUnderstand signal flow and be able to provide advanced troubleshooting for AV and IT equipment.Report system anomalies, equipment problems, customer relations issues or any other daily event discrepancies that arise. Work with management to resolveAs a senior team member, provide advice and training in an area of expertise such as theatre lighting, audio engineering, post-production, streaming, video production or other unique specialtyTake ownership of service areas as assigned, creating SOPs, participating in special projects, assisting with process change and equipment upgradesWork is required on-site, with occasional travel to off-site conference venuesOther duties and special projects as assignedSkills & Qualifications
Excellent customer service skills; Must be creative and flexible in interacting & communicating with coworkers and clients, often under deadline pressureAbility to read, speak and effectively communicate in English & Spanish languages; Ability to thrive in a multicultural and multilingual environmentAbility to share project information with others, collaborate as part of a team, lead challenging projects, and mentor junior technicians as opportunities ariseA strong sense of urgency in solving customer requests to ensure timely resolution is criticalSuperior knowledge of current AV and event industry practices, standards, and proceduresProactive attitude and solid work ethicMust have superior knowledge of video signal flow, camera, and lighting techniquesAdvanced knowledge of video switching and directing live programsProficient with control systems such as Crestron, and computer systems used in multimedia production, including computer networks (LANs, net connections, and IP)Capability to read and understand wiring diagrams, CAD drawings and schematicsMust have a commitment to excellence and to ongoing education/training and to the proficiency in his or her craft; Commitment to obtaining AVIXA CTS certification, DES certification and similarEducation & Experience
Bachelor's degree in film/Video, Communications, Media, Audio/Music, Electronic Engineering, or related field preferred; or technical school training with electronics training and related experience8+ years' experience with the setup, operation and troubleshooting of conference rooms, auditoriums, theatre, and/or broadcast environment.AVIXA CTS and/or ITIL certificates are required, and company will help employees achieve those certifications.
