GRADE 13: Starting at $26.36 through $27.57 depending on experience and/or education. SUMMARY: The Electrician installs, troubleshoots, and maintains District electrical systems, circuiting, and lighting. Provides estimated cost of materials and labor and maintains a log of purchases and electrical supply inventory. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintains, repairs, and installs electrical systems, including interior and exterior conduit, transformers, power circuits, motors, generators, switches, switchboards, heating and air conditioning controls, exit signs, and emergency lights. Troubleshoots electrical failures on motors, controls, fuses, ballasts, wiring, cooling pumps, heating units, and air-conditioning units. Installs new electrical circuiting and power supplies. Repairs kitchen appliances, i.e., dishwasher, commercial oven, deep freezer, and washers and dryers. Maintains indoor and outdoor athletic field, parking, and security lighting. Maintains paperwork (electronic or hard copy) and processing of work orders. Estimates cost of materials and labor in relation to job. Maintains supply inventory and assigned shop machinery, equipment, tools, facilities and assigned vehicles. Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND four years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. License and Certification Requirements: A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required. Must be a certified Electrician at time of hire. IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ABILITIES Skill in installing, diagnosing, and repairing electrical components. Working knowledge of electrical theory, materials, equipment and tools. Skill in planning, prioritizing and completing work orders. Skill in following safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed throughout campuses and District facilities, both indoors and outdoors. Work required exposure to hot and cold temperatures, potentially dangerous tools and equipment, and hazardous chemicals. Physical ability to perform all of the essential functions (e.g. stand, turn, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, lift, push, pull, and, work at heights, climb ladders).
