Responsibilities:
Applied Technology Associates (ATA), a BlueHalo company, is seeking a successful and driven Electrical Engineer that is experienced in mixed signal electrical design with a focus on aerospace & spaceflight hardware solutions. Working as a team-member of the Embedded Systems Group the Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, simulation, manufacture/procurement, testing, and integration of electronic PCB assemblies, cabling, and electrical systems all while working in multi-disciplinary teams across a range of projects for both terrestrial and spaceflight applications.Essential Functions:The Aerospace Electrical Engineers duties will include:Circuit design & simulationSchematic capture & printed circuit board designElectrical circuit test and troubleshootingIdentification and selection of qualified hi-rel & spaceflight componentsCable and wiring harness design for spaceflight applicationsElectrical system design, assembly, integration, and test supportVendor/Supplier IdentificationDesign derating analysisReliability analysisSupport Documentation and Test ProceduresCore Competencies:Knowledge of electrical design practices associated with spaceflight electronics.Experience with high-reliability, radiation tolerant, and radiation hardened electronic components.Schematic & PCB capture software - Altium Designer strongly preferred.Experience with mixed signal circuit card design, simulation, and layout including devices such amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters, digital functions, microprocessors, and regulators.Understanding of common communications interfaces, including RS232, RS422, RS485, SPI, I2C, LVDS, and Ethernet.Experience using common electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal analyzers, and function generators.
Desired Competencies:Experience with high-speed circuit card design, simulation, and layout for high-speed digital circuits including devices such as FPGAs, memory, high-speed communications, and controlled impedance signaling.Experience with radio frequency circuit card design, simulation, and layout including devices such as frequency converters, high-power amplifiers, receivers, and exciters.Understanding of isolation of ground loops, being able to diagnose and troubleshoot grounding issues within a system.Wiring and cabling of spaceflight electronics.Use of Microsoft Visio for creating cable and wiring drawings.MIL wiring standards.
Work Environment:This job operates in a professional office environment and in a laboratory environment. Occasional work inside a cleanroom environment may also be required. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and other equipment as needed.Travel:Travel may occasionally be required to support project needs, both locally during the day and out-of-area overnight.Qualifications:Required Education and Experience:Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year university with at least 3-5 years of experience with aerospace electronics design, integration, and testing.Must be a US Citizen.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.Preferred Education and Experience:Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year university with at least 7-10 years of experience with aerospace electronics design, integration, and testing.Must be a US Citizen.Have an active security clearance.
