We are seeking a
Theory QEC and Algorithm Development Manager
in our
Broomfield, CO
Location.
Quantinuum is seeking a highly qualified individual to lead a theory team focusing on quantum error correction and algorithm development. The manager in this position will lead and mentor theoretical physicists, have responsibility for understanding the larger teams' needs in both technology development and commercial systems, set day-to-day priorities, and work with other teams in Quantinuum to help achieve technical milestones.
This role comprises individual technical contribution, technical leadership, and people-management, in roughly equal parts. As such, candidates will boast a broad understanding in quantum computing and trapped-ion systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Guide day-to-day efforts for quantum error correction, and algorithm development theoryProvide career development of direct-reporting engineer/scientistsWork with local and international leadership and technical team leads to determine long-term strategy to achieve high impact technology developmentCollaborate with experimental teams to optimize performance of Quantinuum's quantum computers and maintain a competitive advantageCollaborate with other international theory teams to understand high level applications and associated hardware requirementsCollaborate with the architecture team to improve the performance of next generation machinesMeet objectives by hiring and developing staff with the right skillsLead technical teams to meet goals for programmatic performance, schedule, and scientific excellenceHelp create and maintain awareness of technology demonstrations and scientific excellence via publications, presentations, and other public communicationsCo-own, with other relevant stakeholders, the QEC and Algorithm technology portfolio, including IP development and capture, and long-term development strategy and roadmapYOU MUST HAVE:
Master's degree minimumMinimum 5+ years of post-graduate experience in theoretical quantum computingMinimum 1 year of experience serving as the leader of an advanced technical team (either task leadership or personnel management, or both)Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee statusWE VALUE:
Advanced degree -- Masters or PhD -- in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field preferredDirect experience with people-management in a technical industryA track record of high-quality research evidenced by publications, talks, etc.A strong and active network of professional relationshipsStrong organizational & leadership skills; excellent written and verbal communication skillsDeep knowledge of trapped-ion or AMO systems and quantum benchmarking

Compensation & Benefits:
Incentive Eligible - Range posted is inclusive of bonus target when applicable
