OVERVIEW: Top global law firm is seeking a highly motivated and engaging Director of Business Development to support the growth of the firm’s thriving litigation practice. The Director of Business Development will foster and implement the firm’s business development and marketing initiatives to support the fast-paced growth of the firm’s litigation practice areas. The Director will work directly with the firm’s partners and senior marketing/business development leadership to support stakeholder engagement and drive the firm’s profitability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with the various litigation practice group leaders to assess needs and evaluate implementation of overall strategic plans
Devise litigation practice group strategy and attend meetings, identifying opportunities for cross-marketing and putting plans into place to carry out
Design and implement go-to-market strategies and identify business development opportunities
Prepare pitch material, RFP’s and key presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders
Engage with key external stakeholders for research, conference or thought leadership engagement opportunities
Manage pipeline of opportunities, assess the results of pitches and proposals, and provide timely ideas
Monitor publications and other sources for potential opportunities and client development, and relay intelligence gathered to partners and associates
Guide the sales material messaging by partnering with BD team to ensure sales materials, pitches and proposals are aligned with the Firm’s core goals and practices
Strategize ideas and execute methods for improving the Firm’s litigation business development initiatives
Assess practice group strengths and research clients, competitors, industry and market trends to aid in BD initiatives
Analyze and report on key BD metrics that speak to improving the effectiveness of the Firm’s BD efforts
Collaborate with Media and Marketing team for award submissions and firm events
Support practice groups with legal directory submissions
Provide mentorship to the BD team to foster a culture of growth, positivity and collaboration that will lead to greater efficiency
REQUIREMENTS:
15+ years of legal business development/marketing experienceDeep understanding of the litigation marketing spaceBachelor’s degree required, JD or MBA preferredStrong knowledge litigation practice areas (specifically white collar defense and securities litigation)Excellent business acumen and ability to cohesively manage a multi-stakeholder teamAdvanced knowledge of MS Excel and WordMotivated, energetic and persuasive personalityExcellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates good judgment in communicationWorks well under pressure and in a collaborative environmentEffective researcher with great attention to detail in legal proofreading and editingAble to work independently and take initiative
