Description
The J127 Education Foundation, operating three independent schools in Fairfax, VA, is seeking a full-time on-site Staff Accountant. As the Staff Accountant, your primary responsibilities will revolve around producing accurate financial and management reports, including balance sheet schedules and other accounting files. Your attention to detail and strong organizational skills will be essential in ensuring all tasks are handled with precision. While you will often work independently, teamwork and collaboration will also be key in meeting deadlines efficiently and accurately. Other responsibilities include:
Assist with month end close processes, to include (but not limited to) bank and credit card reconciliations, fixed assets tracking and depreciation, and student accounts.Manage a monthly financial analysis.Manage the Student Billing and Accounts Receivable functions, to include creation of annual billing schedules, and maintaining accurate student accounts records.Must professionally communicate with internal and external customers (enrolled school families, as well as internal staff).Review, evaluate and recommend improvements on internal processes.Create and compile management reports for senior staff and the accounting departmentAssist with the annual budget processAssist with the annual financial audit and 990 tax return preparationAssist with the bi-weekly payroll process and act as a back-up when neededPerform additional projects and administrative duties as neededRequirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required2+ years of experience in a related field or area requiredProficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) requiredExperience with accounting platforms required (Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred)Experience with Accounts PayableExperience with Student Billing preferredAttention to detail and accuracyStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsRead, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishPass pre-employment screeningsWe offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes the following benefits:
