Salary: $95k -100k
Seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee key accounting functions and support financial reporting processes. This role is integral to maintaining the company's financial health and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer, the Senior Accountant will supervise an Accounting Specialist, manage tuition billing, and contribute to budgeting and financial analysis efforts.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and quarterly analytical reports.
Manage annual audit schedules and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control standards.
Coordinate the budget process, prepare variance reports, and support strategic financial planning.
Oversee journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and perform detailed financial statement analysis .
Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in all financial records.
Supervise accounts payable processes and manage cash receipts.
Manage student billing through the Tuition Management system, track accounts receivable, and follow up on overdue accounts.
Maintain the Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT database and manage student enrollment data integration.
Assist the CFOO with special projects and other duties as needed.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting ; CPA certification preferred.
Minimum of five years of accounting experience, including supervisory duties. Experience in independent schools or non-profit organizations is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT and Tuition Management software.
Thorough understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with discretion.
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with the financial operations of non-profit institutions, particularly educational settings.
Supervisory experience, with the potential to manage and support the Accounting Specialist effectively.
