L3Harris Technologies has an immediate opening for a technical Mission Planner in Colorado Springs, CO. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in DoD sensor collections, orbital mechanics, and mission planning of space-based remote sensing systems. This position will have direct and significant impact on the utilization of an on-orbit system and requires the ability to work with engineers, satellite operators, and directly with the customer.
Essential Functions:
Participates as part of a team of Mission Planners for an on-orbit satellite
Performs analysis of sensor collection opportunities for customer requested events
Creates technical analysis for customer requested events
Presents work to multi-disciplinary team and internal/external customers
Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or similar
Coordinates with engineering and satellite operators on planned collections for an on-orbit satellite
Works in a classified environment, primarily at a customer facility
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience
Technical expertise in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical or equivalent engineering discipline
Experience working on aerospace/defense systems (airborne payloads, space payloads, spacecraft bus, ground systems)
Active secret security clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience architecting, analyzing, developing, integrating, or operating complex systems in the area of remote sensing
Experience with design, development, and operation of IR sensors
Deep understanding of remote sensing of phenology using Infrared sensors
Experience exploiting Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) or IMINT sensor data
Experience developing tools to exploit Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) or IMINT sensor data
Experience in Airborne or Overhead collection management
Proficiency with STK or similar for space based viewing analysis, trajectory, sensor coverage optimization
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team, act as customer interface
Ability to collaborate across all levels of leadership
Familiarity with missile systems and/or re-entry vehicles currently in use today
Organized and detail-oriented
Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to work harmoniously in a team environment with government customers and other contractors
Compensation and Benefits:
In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $106,500.00 - $197,500.00 (salary ranges in other locations could differ). This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
