Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer – SW Engineer (RA) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations.
This position is for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer on the C2BMC program. The selected candidate will be responsible for software development in
Java
for one of the Regional Applications teams in Huntsville. Under minimal direction, provides specialized expertise within multiple systems and software disciplines.
Essential Functions:
Perform in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
Maintain currency, debug, and configure related software products.
Work from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications.
Assist with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs.
Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve overall efficiency.
Design, code, test, and implement tools for operations automation.
Work on most phases of software systems programming applications.
Small team leadership experience.
Good verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the poise required to work in a highly dynamic environment.
Knowledge of server-side/database development and computer system administration.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Experience with Software Integration and formal testing.
Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.
Good working knowledge of MS Office products.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience, or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application.
DoD 8140 certification at
IAT Level II or higher
is required at the start or must be obtained within 60 days of the start date.
Software engineering and software development with strong
Java/J2EE
experience.
Experience developing enterprise applications on
Linux
and
Windows .
Experience with agile development methodologies.
Knowledge and experience implementing
Cyber Security/RMF
requirements.
