Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer – Algorithm SW Engineer (RA) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations.

As a member of the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (ART) of the Missile Defense National Team for Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC), this position will help generate software design artifacts, implement Java-based software changes, support design and code reviews, and support software testing and resolution of issues arising from software testing.

Essential Functions:

Experience working within the BMDS domain preferred and Java application development, particularly for military applications.

Experience with software integration testing and the ability to review system behavior issues, identify root causes, and recommend a solution are also positives.

The successful candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills, can work with limited independence, and possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment.

Must be able to work in a multiple-discipline environment that includes systems engineering, integration and test, deployment, and warfighter support.

Good working knowledge of MS Office products.

Infrequent travel between Huntsville and Colorado development facilities may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or 9 years of experience in lieu of degree.

Applicants must have a current DoD issued Secret Security Clearance at the time of application which is required to start.

Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.

Experienced in some or all aspects of

full life-cycle development

of complex mathematical algorithms such as:

Tracking

Correlation

Guidance

Battle management

Radar management for Java-based military applications

Experience developing software within an agile development process and the incremental work decomposition.

Experience developing software in a structured, process-based, integrated team environment.

Experience developing software within a

DEVSECOPS

framework for

Java-based applications

in a

Unix/Linux

platform environment.

Experience with:

Git/GitLab

Eclipse

Maven/Gradle

SonarQube or similar toolsets

Experience with the development of automated unit tests and verification of requirements.

Experience with system engineering artifacts such as:

ICDs

Use cases

Sequence diagrams

Review participation

Support the preparation of software design artifacts and presentations to internal and external customers.

Experience with the implementation of

MATLAB-based algorithms

before their adoption into tactical

Java-based software .

Preferred Qualifications:

DoD 8140 certification at

IAT Level II or higher

(Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is highly desired.

$102,400 - $153,600
