Develop and coordinate student-targeted programs and serve as project manager for “Night at Your Museum” (a social destination event for Smith students). Assist with training and scheduling for student docents and volunteers. Prepare and lead museum tours as needed. Coordinate administrative logistics for the Museum’s Concentration. Support implementation of family and community activities.Duties and Responsibilities:Administrative and Program Support:

Provide administrative and program support to the Department of Academic Programs and Public Education staff: assist with training and scheduling for student docents and volunteers; prepare and lead tours for K-12 school groups and adult learners as needed; assist with space reservations and service requests for public events; realize operational efficiencies within the department. Manage administrative details for the Museum’s Concentration, including tracking student records, managing the program website and student opportunities blog, coordinating advisory committee meetings, and soliciting, processing, and tracking applications. Participate in departmental meetings, contributing to the planning of SCMA education programs. Support coordination of family and community activities. Complete other tasks as assigned.Program Development:Plan and implement extracurricular educational programs for Smith students, including the large student event—“Night at Your Museum.” Collaborate with campus student organizations to host programs and events at the Museum. Engage in student outreach to increase participation in ongoing museum opportunities.Departmental Operations:

Provide support as needed for mailings and organizing program documentation. Assist in organization of shared workroom and storage spaces. Generate supply orders and catering requests as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree completed within the past 5 years. Academic focus in education, studio art, art history, or other humanities field preferred. Experience in the museum field/museum education desirable.Skills:Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and strong basic competence with computers. Excellent oral and written communication skills.Additional Information:This is a one-year, limited-term position with the possibility of renewal to two years.Smith College is an EO/AA/Vet/Disability Employer
