Junior Conference Services Manager , you are essentially “command central,” keeping everything flowing between sales and operations. This highly client-centric role requires a logistical mastermind responsible for ensuring the successful planning and execution of banquet and catering events. You will provide communication, direction, and strategic oversight to departments to ensure successful execution of meetings, events, conferences, and group-room operations. You will also be the on-site group and catering client contact to ensure the event runs smoothly. Understanding your client and their priorities is critical. Building rapport, resolving unexpected crises, and instilling confidence and calm under pressure are essential skills.ResponsibilitiesAchieve a minimum of 90% of productivity goals and 100% of activity goals, as established by management.Coordinate all group business as developed by the sales manager, contacting and appropriately following up on all signed/contracted business within 5 working days.Effectively communicate with various departments to ensure that meetings and related functions are executed to the clients' expectations.Direct sales: Target appointment-oriented sales calls to ensure a successful catering direct sales effort, in accordance with goals established by the department budget and marketing plan.Maximize current hotel key accounts by identifying and developing those that offer revenue growth.Capture competitor's accounts through networking and research to target and solicit those most likely to generate new business.Maintain well-documented, accurate, organized, and up-to-date file management to serve clients and employers expediently.Develop strong customer relationships through appropriate client communication and professional, courteous interaction.Control expenses on behalf of the property to minimize department and hotel costs.Exhibit a positive and involved team attitude towards all hotel departments.QualificationsEducation/Formal TrainingMinimum of high school diploma or equivalent.ExperienceOne year minimum hotel sales or catering experience.Knowledge/SkillsRequires knowledge of general sales techniques, yield management experience, and highly developed customer service skills.Must be detail-oriented and able to respond to coaching, feedback, and training.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
