Applied Materials is the leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world. Our expertise in modifying materials at atomic levels and on an industrial scale helps our customers – who make smartphones, supercomputers, virtual reality headsets, autonomous vehicles and more – transform their ideas into reality. Our innovations Make Possible a Better Future.
At Applied’s CTO group, we focus on solid-state solutions for quantum technology, i.e. superconducting qubits and optical quantum computing. Our primary objective is to collaborate with system companies and universities to develop quantum devices with significantly lower error rates compared to current standards. Our approach centers on harnessing state of the art materials engineering and semiconductor processing, as well as our expertise in advanced (metasurface-based) optics to enhance device performance. To achieve this goal, we're seeking individuals with a strong background in quantum technology to join our expanding team.
Inside our company, we apply the idea of make possible as we work together. We value our people and teams who turn possibilities into reality by advancing our strategy, accomplishing great things and empowering others. We are deeply committed to fostering a Culture of Inclusion where every person knows they belong, feels empowered to bring their whole self to work, and is inspired to grow.
If you’re looking for a great place to grow your career, consider Applied Materials. With the data explosion and new investment in semiconductors, it’s an exciting place to be.
Responsibilities
Create quantum devices with record low error rates using state of the art semiconductor technologies.
Work with process, hardware, and metrology team to develop new thin film materials and processes for quantum devices.
Collaborate with customers, start-ups, or universities to measure material properties.
Design and conduct experiment, metrology data collection and analysis.
Explore new growth area leveraging Applied’s expertise in precision material engineering.
Requirements
PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics preferred
Experience with manufacturing of quantum devices
Experience with photonic qubits or integrated photonics
