Job Summary
This Senior Research Program Administrator position is responsible for grant and contract management as well as business operations management of the NanoPower Research Lab (NPRL) at the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at Rochester Institute of Technology. Directly supporting the NPRL Director, this position collaborates on overall strategic planning and is responsible for the financial forecasting of the NanoPower Research Lab, an internal recharge facility and the EPICenter Enterprise Center, along with any grants or contracts utilizing the above facilities. The Program Administrator also works closely with the NPRL PIs, Sponsored Programs Accounting and Sponsored Research Service personnel supporting program-level planning and goal setting. To support continued growth of the Research Lab and broaden its reach, this position identifies new funding opportunities in alignment with the Lab's research thrusts and facilitates and guides faculty/staff on the development and preparation of sponsored research proposals, and contributes to writing sections of these proposals. In addition, with support from the RIT/GIS administrative, sponsored research, and finance teams, the Program Administrator is responsible for executing NPRL and EPICenter business operations in accordance with contract requirements and RIT policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
Development of Research Centers:
Responsible for coordinating in the development and establishment of 2 new federal research centers at RIT
NSF awarded, NRT: Convergent Graduate Research Training for CMOS+X Semiconductor Technologies
AFRL/RVKE awarded, Advanced Space Power Materials and Architectures
Strategically support the NPRL and EpiCenter operations, including but not limited to:
Work with the PIs to identify funding opportunities, develop plan for proposals; create budgets with effort planning; and edit and conduct final review of proposal narratives, and related documents, and financially manage awarded projects.
Work with the director, PIs, SRS and SPA to ensure PIs and all personnel and its sponsor(s) understand and comply with contract requirements. Work with Office of Legal Affairs to keep required Technology Control Plan updated.
Manage the research group personnel for PIs and develop appropriate group policies, as well as create new processes and documents (.xlsx, .docs and .ppts) for on-going growth of the research center, as needed.
Stay abreast of relevant research, grant funding opportunities, government regulations, etc. in support of sponsored projects.
Execute NPRL business operations, including but not limited to:
Review external project statements of work (SOW) ensuring a sound project plan with regard to scope, schedule, and budget, as well as compliance with RIT, GIS, and sponsor requirements.
Assist project managers with review of project technical reports, with burn rate graphs and inclusion of sponsor required acknowledgements and disclaimers; secure technical writer review, as needed.
Manage extensive portfolio of projects for the PIs, including on-going individual grant financial analysis, capacity planning, technical review, and real-time financial forecasting for long term project planning and project closeout.
Responsible for financial planning and budgeting of operating and project funds, including annual budget development, personnel management (including hiring of staff, post-docs, graduate research assistants, co-ops), capital equipment procurement and other expenditures.
Responsible for EpiCenter inventory, both physical and financial, and maintaining accurate accounting records for federal re-charge center annual validation.
Create quotes and then invoice external customers for the EPICenter Enterprise Center. Track external projects.
Financial support the NPRL and EpiCenter operations, including but not limited to:
Financial forecasting of all operating and sponsored projects utilizing the facilities; Scheduling of work load to optimize work flow through the facilities and ensuring project deadlines.
Responsible for monthly reconciliation of project statement with follow up financial review and projection of all projects with all PIs
Responsible for capital equipment and P-card procurement, confirming project allowability and availability of funds, reconciling monthly statements.

Minimum of 3 year of experience in a business administration or research administration position, including at least 1 year of directly related experience with state and/or federal sponsored research and program management.
