Business Analyst (Online/Remote)American Public Education, Inc.American Public Education, Inc. (APEI) is seeking a Business Analyst with strong analytical and product management skills to proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers across the enterprise. The Business Analyst will evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, drive and challenge assumptions, and distinguish business requests from the underlying need. This role will be vital to understanding the documenting capabilities needed to address business challenges.Responsibilities:Analyzes business practices throughout APEI or its affiliated departments and utilize this information to influence system enhancements and maintenance requests.Analyzes business processes to define the functional and detailed requirements and works with the technology development team to design specifications and approach.Meets with the department contacts and reporting team to create functional design documents for new reports providing data mapping and report layout specifications.Leads discovery sessions, publish meeting minutes, and ensures all action items are completed in the timeframe set.Consult with business process owners to obtain additional information during system development in order to evaluate an alternative approach.Conduct system demonstrations and coordinate the creation of user guides.Assist the project team and key stakeholders in the review of test cases.Prepare User Acceptance Testing (UAT) documentation and lead the user acceptance testing effort with the responsible business process owner.Monitor and document post-implementation problems and revision requests.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements/Education:Proven leadership ability.Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.Exceptionally self-motivated and directed.Keen attention to detail.Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.Exceptional service orientation.Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field preferred.1 to 5 years experience in the Information Technology or Education disciplines required.Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodology as well as more formalized waterfall-style Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).Experience with design/development of web applications and SaaS products.Experience with Microsoft Office Products, especially SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.Ability to use current and contemporary business tools and methodologies. Experience with project management processes and tools preferred.
