We develop efficient, state-of-the-art models to create the most reliable fulfillment experience for our buyers whilst highlighting the human side of Etsy’s sellers and their unique inventory.In this team, you'll work closely with Applied Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and other stakeholders to follow the latest research and implement its best ideas efficiently, at scale for the benefit of Etsy's buyers and sellers. Working hands-on with a cross-disciplinary team, you will deliver robust production models that will be A/B tested live on Etsy across multiple platforms.This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager Fulfillment. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. here .What does the day-to-day look like?You will work in a cross-functional team to prioritize projects which help achieve our product targets.You will build, deploy, test and maintain scalable machine learning models by applying the latest concepts in research and industry.Use machine learning to improve Etsy buyer’s fulfillment and delivery experiences.Use forecasting, operations research, and network optimization to predict and improve Etsy’s delivery performance.Develop models with custom architecture or objective functions that target Etsy-specific problems, including but not limited to revenue optimization and seasonality.You will run various A/B experiments to improve Fulfillment reliability.You will work closely with our product manager to help build roadmaps which range between a few weeks to 6-12 months.Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:3+ years of experience in building production ML systems.You have experience developing impactful solutions to machine learning problems involving some or all of the following parts of the pipeline: data extraction, developing and training machine learning models, model evaluation, active learning, and working the new model into production applications.You have strong engineering and coding skills, with the ability to write high-quality production code. Proficiency in Python, Scala, Java and/or other equivalent languages.Experience with/working in one of the following fields: forecasting, delivery optimization, network optimization, revenue optimization, machine learning.Demonstrated success developing productionized machine learning systems. You are comfortable with using git, docker, and other tools for writing robust, production-ready code.Ability to write and manipulate data at a large scale, in distributed environments.Additional Information
