Project Engineer

to join our dedicated team of

Civil Engineers

in our

Concord, NH

office to serve as a project team member for the planning, design, and/or oversight of civil engineering projects such as roads, highways, landfills, subdivisions, stormwater management structures, site development, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, environmental remediation, and infrastructure projects. Civil Project Engineers may also provide support to the Environmental and Geotechnical teams where appropriate.Essential Functions:Perform and manage project level activities (i.e., multiple tasks) as needed to meet project deadlines through collaboration with project team members. Execute assignments efficiently and effectively. Work well independently and with project team members. Will be responsible for providing support and guidance to junior staff to promote personal and professional development.Serve as field engineer, or Site Safety Officer when applicable, after demonstration of site knowledge and position knowledge, including respect of peers. May be required to direct field technicians and other staff during field work and coordinate work tasks. Collect necessary field data through observation or basic field data collection techniques using field instruments such as field survey equipment, tape measures, flow meters, turbidity samplers, sieve analyses, cameras, pumps, data loggers, and other instruments as needed.Communicate and coordinate with other staff, project managers, clients, regulators, and/or other project team members as needed, prepare, review, and modify technical reports, specifications, plans, engineering calculations, construction schedules, and cost estimates.Review, evaluate, and interpret engineering reports, engineering design drawings, maps, specifications, regulations, ordinances, field test results, design manuals, aerial photographs, and other data necessary for civil, environmental remediation, and geotechnical engineering projects. Communicate technical information with equipment and materials vendors, accurately document such communications, and apply the information obtained to relevant project work.Prepare engineering design calculations and construction cost estimates and determine the feasibility of a project or project feature based on analysis of the prepared engineering calculations cost estimates, and other collected data.Identify and classify soils in the field using appropriate standards for an engineering assessment. Observe test pits, soil borings, and/or rock cores, and record all observations of site conditions, weather, staffing, subcontractors, and pertinent technical information.Observe and/or inspect project sites prior to, during, or after construction to monitor and/or assess construction progress and ensure conformance with engineering plans, specifications, regulations, and accepted construction and safety standards and prepare written construction inspection and observation summaries.Visit project sites and evaluate ongoing construction practices by meeting and talking with construction contractors and subcontractors, owners, regulators, and other consultants, and prepare written construction inspection and observation summaries. May be required to direct field technicians and other staff during field work and to coordinate work tasks.Use engineering software and computer hardware necessary to complete engineering analysis, hydrogeologic analysis, and engineering design projects.
